When is the best time to start the credit restoration process?

Whether you are going through:

  • Collections
  • Debt Settlement Negotiations
  • Starting a Short Sale or Foreclosure
  • Bankruptcy

The simple answer is: START AS SOON AS NEGATIVE CREDIT HITS YOUR CREDIT REPORT.

Unless you challenge derogatory credit information it is considered valid. Once challenged, the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires the Credit Reporting Agencies to verify what they have reported about a consumer.  Without proof, negative reporting must be permanently removed.

It can take a year to complete the restoration process.

Remember, neither we nor your client can force the credit bureaus to do anything.  We can certainly compel them in a very strong and escalating manner to comply with the law; however, it is up to them to remove unverified information.  Because of this, it can take months to prove to the Credit Reporting Agencies that you will not be intimidated, will not give up and will not go away until they comply with federal law.

That is why it is better to start sooner rather than later!

About Safe Haven Credit
